Many newcomers first hear about A.A.’s life saving message through the volunteer work of these A.A. volunteer’s.
If you are an A.A. MEMBER who would like to become involved in SERVICE with Area 34, please contact any one of these committee’s.
We also encourage district volunteers to connect with their respective committee counterpart to keep our Fellowship united!
Archives
Committee
The Archives Committee works to collect, preserve, and share the history of Area 34 Alcoholics Anonymous. The Archives Committee encourage groups and districts to pass along history for the purpose of preserving A.A. archives in Area 34!
Accessibilities
Committee
The Accessibilities Committee focuses on helping those with special needs connect to A.A. The committee has a very broad range of responsibilities. We serve those who have challenges accessing A.A. meetings and assist at A.A. events. We help A.A.’s “access” literature and a connect to our fellowship.
Corrections
Committee
The Corrections Committee raises awareness about the Corrections Correspondence Service (CCS) among A.A. members inside as well as A.A. members on the outside. We help those in custody transition to the A.A. community through the Pre-Release Contact Program. We inform correctional officials and A.A. member volunteers gain access to digital literature. corrections@area34aa.org.
Grapevine/LaVina
Committee
The Grapevine and LaVina (A.A.’s meeting in print) can be a lifeline to alcoholics living in remote communities, those confined, and those with special needs. The Grapevine is offered digitally.
P.I./C.P.C.
Committee
The Public Information Committee (PI) committee provides information to the public with accurate up to date information about Alcoholics Anonymous.
Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC) provides information to those who have contact with alcoholics through their professions.
Treatment
Committee
The Treatment Committee reaches the alcoholic in treatment & rehabilitation facilities as well as those in outpatient programs. The Treatment Committee also participates and facilitates the Area 34s Bridging the Gap Program.
The Registrar &
Directories Committee
The Area 34 Registrar is a trusted servant who is responsible for maintaining records of groups in Area 34 and for communicating information to our GSO about these groups. The Directories Committee is also responsible for publishing the Area 34 Directory.
Finance
Committee
The Finance Committee serves in making sound and responsible financial decisions for the Area 34 Assembly body. The Finance Chair also serves as the Alternate Treasurer.
Literature
Committee
The literature Committee acts as a liaison between various service entities to keep Area 34 A.A. members informed about new publications, literature, and price changes.
Handbook
Keeper
The Handbook Keeper serves to preserve the Area 34 Handbook and update guidelines as requested by committees and the Area 34 Assembly.
Tech & Communications
Committee
Area 34 Technology & Communications Committee touches all things involving Technology and the communications hub for Area 34 Trusted Servants.
Western Michigan Alcoholics Anonymous spans across the entire west coast of Lake Michigan, from the Indiana state line to the eastern portion of Michigan’s upper peninsula at the Canadian boarder. Thanks to technology, some service committees can attend to A.A. business by meeting virtually.
